Puerto Rico is a sheltered port and harbour area, lying west of Playa del Ingles. Only 20 minutes drive apart, the two resorts could hardly be more different and holidays in Puerto Rico are just as enjoyable, despite being so different in character and this is just one of the factors that make holidays to Gran Canaria so popular.
Whilst Playa del Ingles is wild and vibrant, Puerto Rico Gran Canaria is much more laid back and relaxing. That is not to say it's dull. Far from it! Even though the pace is slightly more leisurely, the resort still has plenty of nice restaurants with local and international cooking, lots of shops and bars and a good commercial centre.
Protected as if sitting in the palm of low mountains, the resort is a calm curve of glistening sea populated by a busy and bustling marina, jammed with colourful and opulent sailing craft.
Holidays in Puerto Rico are tailor made for sun lovers as the beach is beautifully sandy and soft (albeit man made) and is a favourite haunt for watersports. It's perfect for windsurfing, sailing, pedaloes and waterskiing and, of course, lying prone under a warm sun is absolutely permitted too! Puerto Rico enjoys a high volume of repeat business, testament to its laid back ambience and friendly, warm atmosphere.
