Lagos

Charming, pretty, interesting and historical, a trip to the Portuguese town of Lagos still has a classic appeal for holidaymakers to this lovely Algarve resort. Lying to the extreme west of the country, just 35k from Sagres - the most westerly point of the country (next stop the Atlantic!), Lagos has always had seafaring connections and a rich historical past. Flanked by a fortress and protective Roman walls, the town has attractive cobbled streets and some lovely monuments.

However, Lagos is also a vibrant tourist resort with excellent infrastructure for the visitor. Portugal is always a favourite for Algarve holidays particularly and the tiny criss-crossed streets of Lagos are simply chock full of great restaurants and lively bars, romantic music bars and interesting shopping outlets, all perfect for lazy evenings on holiday.

The beach at Meia Praia on the outskirts of town is a long sandy strip and has plenty of watersports and activities to while away balmy, sunny days and the beautiful marina area is wonderful for early evening strolls - a very typical relaxing pastime on Algarve holidays.

There are no flights to Lagos, but Algarve holidays from Ireland are accessible with frequent flights into Faro airport. We have a great selection of hotels in the Algarve to the resorts of Praia da Rocha, Albufeira, Alvor, Olhos D'Agua, and Carvoeiro.
